5% on a successful sale
The rate is locked when you publish, and shown on the review step before you confirm. A later change never touches a listing that is already live. A fee that can move mid-auction is a fee you cannot plan around.
Worked examples
| Sells for | Commission | You receive | New seller, first 90 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| $25.00 | -$1.25 | $23.75 | $21.37 + $2.38 held |
| $100.00 | -$5.00 | $95.00 | $85.50 + $9.50 held |
| $500.00 | -$25.00 | $475.00 | $427.50 + $47.50 held |
Card processing is included in the 5%. There is no separate Stripe fee taken out of your side.
Rolling reserve for new sellers
New sellers carry a 10% rolling reserve, held 90 days and then released automatically. A brand-new account with no track record is the shape of a seller who disappears after being paid.
- It drops to zero at Established: five completed sales, no upheld disputes.
- It is your money. Nothing about it is conditional on future behaviour except fraud.
- Your earnings page shows exactly what is held and when each piece releases.
When you are paid
- The buyer is charged when the auction closes. The money sits on RoAuction's balance, not yours and not theirs.
- The buyer confirms the files are what they bought. That unlocks their download.
- Seven days after that confirmation, your net transfers to your Stripe account. Three days once you are Established.
- Stripe moves it to your bank on its own schedule. We never see your bank details.
Two-factor is required before your first payout
Not before you sign up, and not before you bid. Friction belongs where money moves.
What we do not charge for
- Listing something. There is no insertion fee under $1,000.
- Relisting once after an unmet reserve.
- Cancelling a listing that has no bids.
- A reserve price, a Buy It Now price, or extra preview images.
- Buying. Buyers pay the bid amount and nothing else.
Over $1,000
Listings above $1,000 are not open yet. When they are: a flat listing fee upfront, no commission, and the transaction settled through Escrow.com directly between buyer and seller. RoAuction is the venue there, not the merchant, so we do not arbitrate them.
It stays closed until there is enough bidder depth. A $30,000 listing sitting unsold for six weeks makes the site look dead.
